Saving the coloured ink for future generations
Current scientific opinion is that the extinction of the panda is inevitable,
as it has lost interest in both the food it eats and in sex.
If anyone should question why
it’s worth conserving the giant panda,
a creature whose biological existence –
devoid of life’s two lip-smacking
earth-moving pleasures –
is dragging to an evolutionary exit,
as it treks the ice-capped outcrops
to fill its gut with garden canes
twenty plodding hours a day
(so little time to grab some shut-eye –
small wonder there’s no inclination
to raise the yang and yin laid dormant
deep within those piebald fur balls)
consider the World Wide cost
and carbon footprint
of the famous Fund for Nature
if its logo was a no-go
of flaming orange tiger stripes.
It’s there in black and white.
