Eve – Sloughed
H10 W33cm. Coloured slips, earthenware glaze
After the serpent’s seduction, Eve lies clutching the apple core, wallowing in self-knowledge, unaware – or maybe not bothered – that the serpent is slithering away from under her. Her drawers of innermost thoughts are pulled out and abandoned, empty, on the ground. The serpent slides over them, tell-tale bumps showing he has devoured the banana and pomegranate halves. He is shedding his skin – the deception is over – revealing a new pattern of horns.
